Marketing & Business Development Officer

Signal Hill is a Canadian Registered Charity that exists to help young people understand their inherent value and worth and the value of those around them.  From that place of truth we help young people make positive life choices.

As part of our strategic plan Signal Hill desires to increase our effectiveness and impact in the community. As such, Signal Hill is looking to fill a new role for a Marketing and Business Development Officer who will help to improve the organization’s market position and achieve financial growth so we can have a greater reach to young people. The successful candidate will be responsible to strengthen existing, and build new strategic partnerships that will increase access to schools, churches, and community groups, and will increase revenue generation.  

This position is full time and includes business development primarily within the lower mainland but will include some travel throughout other areas of BC and Canada.   


Duties & Responsibilities

Donor Development

  • Attend functions, such as events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on fundraising trends
  • Meet potential donors by growing, maintaining and leveraging your network
  • Work closely with the Executive Director to strengthen and grow Signal Hill’s major donor support base and attract new donors
  • Support the Executive Director in developing external strategic partnerships to advance the work of Signal Hill
  • Plan approaches by working with the Signal Hill team to develop proposals
  • Assist in identifying potential funding/grant opportunities and assist in completing Request For Proposals (RFP’s)

Increase the Scope & Reach of Signal Hill Programs

  • Build and maintain long-lasting relationships with schools, churches, community groups etc
  • Update present clients with updated and new programs  
  • Arrange and participate in client and donor debriefs in order to gather and utilize feedback
  • Identify potential clients, and the decision makers within the educational industry
  • Prospect for new and potential clients and turn this into increased business
  • Cold call as appropriate to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities
  • Meet potential clients by growing, maintaining and leveraging your network
  • Build new relationships and strategic partnerships to further distribute Signal Hills programs and products

Develop & Promote Brand Identity in the Market

  • Develop and execute an annual marketing plan
  • Manage and grow Signal Hill’s reach by marketing and promoting our programs
  • Work closely with marketing professionals to develop new marketing and media resources
  • Focus on creating long term growth and market penetration

Job Standards & Requirements

Education                    
Bachelor’s Degree with minimum 3-5 year business development and marketing experience. MBA preferred.                                

Experience                
Established success in business development, marketing, communications and public relations.  A good understanding and working knowledge of the BC Ministry of Education is essential.
