Philanthropy & Community Engagement Manager

The role is instrumental in securing the financial resources required and to build community engagement so that we can educate and empower more and more young people to live lives in which they are able to flourish and thrive.

This position is full time and includes community engagement primarily within the Lower Mainland but will include some travel throughout other areas of BC and Canada.  

Duties & Responsibilities


  • Identify and meet prospect donors by growing, maintaining and leveraging your network    
  • Work closely with the Executive Director to strengthen and grow Signal Hill’s major donor support base and attract new donors 
  • Plan approaches by working with the Signal Hill team to develop proposals
  • Assist in identifying potential funding/grant opportunities and assist in completing Request For Proposals (RFP’s) 
  • Attend functions, such as events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on fundraising trends

Increase Community Engagement

  • Identify potential clients, and the decision makers within the educational industry
  • Build and maintain long-lasting relationships with schools, churches, community groups etc.
  • Meet potential clients by growing, maintaining and leveraging your network
  • Prospect for new and potential clients and turn into increased business
  • Inform present clients of updates and new programs  
  • Arrange and participate in client and donor debriefs in order to gather and utilize feedback 
  • Cold call as appropriate to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities
  • Build new relationships and strategic partnerships to further distribute Signal Hill's programs and products 

Develop & Promote Brand Identity in the Market

  • Develop and execute an annual marketing plan
  • Manage and grow Signal Hill’s reach by marketing and promoting our programs
  • Work closely with marketing professionals to develop new marketing and media resources
  • Focus on creating long term growth and market penetration  

Job Standards & Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree with minimum 3-5 year business development and marketing experience. MBA preferred.                                

A good understanding and working knowledge of the BC Ministry of Education is essential. Established success in business development, marketing, communications and public relations.

Compensation Range:  The position offers a salary in the range of $53,000 - $63,000 with benefits.
