A letter from the Chair of Signal Hill's Board of Directors to all Signal Hill donors and supporters:

Signal Hill has benefited greatly from the passionate leadership of Carrie Williams. Her efforts have resulted in our organization experiencing growing success in our mission to educate and empower young people to Value Every Person. Today Signal Hill is strongly positioned for continued success in our upstream (preventative) approach to changing lives and transforming culture. Truly, Carrie’s dedicated leadership, passion for helping young people, and willingness to share her own story has been an inspiration to us all.

Regretfully, I am writing to announce Carrie’s sudden departure from Signal Hill for health reasons. Following in her own words is Carrie’s farewell message:

I am so grateful for having had the opportunity to serve Signal Hill for the last four years as the Executive Director. It has been such a rewarding season in my life, reaching so many young people with our message of Value Every Person and seeing the profound impact we’ve had in their lives. It’s also been a privilege to meet and connect with so many of you, our passionate donors. We could never do this work without you.

As most of you know, last year my personal dream to get married came true. Now it’s time for me to focus on my new roles of being a wife and step-mother, and to prepare my health in hopes for Jeff and I to have more children. At my age and stage in life, my doctor has recommended that I focus on rest and that I make my health the priority. I have always longed to be a mother, and now that I am married, I want to do everything I can for this dream to come true.

For this reason, I have resigned from Signal Hill. While it saddens me to leave such a wonderful organization, I am pleased to be leaving Signal Hill in the capable hands of the Interim Executive Director Derek Scott, along with a great staff team and committed Board. My husband and I look forward to continuing as supporters and advocates of Signal Hill, for it is an incredible and much needed organization that continues to see exponential growth and success.

Carrie has built a strong team and prepared them to competently continue on the good work of Signal Hill. It is with confidence that the Board has appointed Derek Scott as Interim Executive Director. Derek has a Master’s degree in theology, has worked diligently as part of the Signal Hill team for the past two years, and has earned the respect of his peers.

As the Board Chair, I want to assure you that Signal Hill is growing from strength to strength. If you would like to talk, I encourage you to call me at 778-241-2113.

On behalf of the staff and Board of Signal Hill, thank you Carrie for your enormous contribution to the success of Signal Hill.
